Drops are an estimate (~20 per ml; thick oils vary). For education only — not medical advice. Always patch-test, and consult a professional for use during pregnancy, on children, or with a health condition.
Do this for any blend, automatically
Dilutio applies the safe dilution to every blend, flags phototoxic and pet/child/pregnancy cautions per oil, and exports a clean recipe — across a 225+ oil library. No MLM, no starter kits.

To dilute essential oils, add a set number of drops of essential oil to a carrier oil to reach a target dilution percentage. As a safety-first rule of thumb, use about 1% (roughly 1 drop per 5ml) for the face and sensitive skin, 2% for everyday adult body use, and up to 3% for short-term, targeted use. The table below gives the exact drops for common bottle sizes (based on ~20 drops per ml); the calculator above personalises it for who it's for and where it goes.
| Dilution | 5 ml | 10 ml | 15 ml | 30 ml | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1% (gentle) | 1 | 2 | 3 | 6 | Face, sensitive skin, daily use, older adults |
| 2% (balanced) | 2 | 4 | 6 | 12 | General adult body use |
| 3% (strong) | 3 | 6 | 9 | 18 | Short-term, localised adult use |
| 5% (spot) | 5 | 10 | 15 | 30 | Very short-term spot use only |
Children, pregnancy, and sensitive or older skin need lower strengths — see the guides below. For education only, not medical advice.
Already have a blend in mind?
A percentage alone can hide a problem: a blend can sit at a normal 2% while one oil inside it is far above its own published limit. The Blend Analyzer checks every oil individually, factors in pregnancy, children and pets, and grades the whole thing out of 100.
